  • HARRIS ACADEMY PARTICIPATE IN BBC NEWS SCHOOL REPORT DAY

    Fri 11 Mar 2016

Harris CofE Academy were delighted to have taken part in the tenth BBC News School Report Day on 10th March where schools simultaneously created video, audio and text-based news reports, and published them on our school website, to which the BBC linked into.

The project is aimed to give young people from across the UK the chance to make their own news to real deadlines and broadcast it to real audiences. School Report helps to fulfil one of the BBC Charter’s pledges “sustain citizenship and civil society”

    • By engaging young people with news
    • By bringing their voices and stories to a wider audience
    • By sharing some of the public service values behind content creation, such as fairness, accuracy, and impartiality since so many young people are content creators and distributors

Eleven year seven students worked diligently all day to research, write, and report News for the BBC’s News Day. Students showed excellent core values through their positive approach to this enormous task and the teamwork they displayed at multiple points during the day.

Students produced a number of video and text based articles about a variety of topics from Donald Trump to World Book Day. All involved are to be congratulated for their tremendous efforts and commitment to creating news.

The stories are also live on our website, click here to view
