On Wednesday 22nd May, a group of students from Harris attended a discovery day at the University of Warwick in the School of Life Sciences. Together with students from other local schools, they had to use nets to fish mosquito larva out of the pond, they then took these scoops of water and were excited to find under the microscope more than just the larva, they found pond fleas and midge larva as well.  After lunch they saw blood smears and human/mosquito tissue infected with malaria, today was extremely successful as remarked by a student quoting ”Now I’m considering working in a lab”, Faythe from St Thomas  More remarked “I will invest more time into biology at school” and Ingmarr from Harris found that “everything!” was valuable.
