  • RUGBY ROADIES UNDER 17S DRIVING EXPERIENCE

    Wed 22 Oct 2014

Keen to promote road safety and provide new opportunities for students, the friends of Harris Academy have again provided an opportunity for Harris students to test their driving skills.

Rugby Roadies supplied the cars and instructors and Harris Academy supplied some very enthusiastic young drivers. As a first taste of driving a road legal car, the students were eager to get started some of their comments included “Best day ever” and “can’t wait for next time” Parents watching from the sidelines felt that the experience could only help their children’s confidence and self-esteem. All of them did so well and obviously enjoyed every minute, they all left with a huge smile.” Another parent commented it was a fantastic experience for the children so much fun and a confidence boost”.

Thanks to Rugby Roadies for giving the students a day to remember and also the Friends of Harris for planning such an enjoyable day.

Friends of Harris would also like to thank Head teacher, Michael Stoppard and the site staff for opening the school grounds to this event.

With this event we managed to raise £90 for the Friends of Harris fund.

  • YEAR 7 WW1 PROJECT

    Mon 13 Oct 2014

7a/En1 and 7b/En1 made an excellent impression on the English department with their first piece of homework.
Their task was to create a collage that represented what life was like during a war.
Many pupils created striking and thoughtful representations of war. They had included a range of images and items - including barbed wire, handmade rats and a model trench!
As the collages were so impressive, Mr Stoppard was invited to view the work and Subject and Head Teacher Vivo Commendations were awarded.
Head Teacher Commendations were given to Blaine Angel, Joshua Stapleton and Anna Wash from 7a and to Nikola Garbowska from 7b.

The following pupils received Subject Vivo Commendations for their work: Thomas Hood, Chloe Lewis, Ben Lole, Yasmin Vikmania, Sarah Rowlands and Jack Langhorn from 7a; Edward Hancock, Natasha Richardson and Wiktoria Borkowicz from 7b.

    Well done to them all!

  • RUGBY ROADIES UNDER 17 DRIVING

    Wed 08 Oct 2014

To raise money for learning resources, the Friends of Harris (our PTA) have organised an exciting opportunity for students in Years 7 and 8.

In conjunction with local driving schools, we are offering students their first taste of driving a car. The 30 minute sessions, run by fully qualified instructors in dual controlled vehicles, will take place on the school site between 9am and 4pm on Saturday October 18th, 2014.

Places will be allocated on a ‘first-come, first-served’ basis and only one session per child can be booked. Students in receipt of Pupil Premium funding can have their session paid for through the school if they are successful in securing a place.

If you are happy for your child to participate, please complete and sign the form on the Letters Home page of our website and return it to school as soon as possible. Cheques should be made payable to Harris Church of England Academy.

With best wishes and thanks for your continued support,

    Mrs Mary Oliver
    Head of Humanities
