  • Carol Service finishes off another great Harris year

    Fri 20 Dec 2019

Students and staff celebrate Christmas in the beautiful surroundings of Rugby School Chapel with all dressed in Christmas jumpers to raise money for Save the Children.  The Harris Musical Theatre Group performed Christmas songs, we were treated to some festive drama and the talk was conducted by our school Chaplain, Rev Eric Agyenim-Boateng.

The service ended with the annual House singing competition with Winchester emerging victorious after the rendition of the 12 Days of Christmas.

Thank you to Rugby School for allowing us to use their Chapel once again.

  • Wasps Netball Community Day

    Wed 11 Dec 2019

For the third year running, 14 girls who take GCSE PE were taken to Ricoh Arena for an afternoon of training with the Wasps team. Students got to tour the facilities, take part in drills and have a Q+A session with the amazing Jade Clarke. Jade is one of England’s Netball players who helped them achieve Gold in the Commonwealth Games beating Australia 52-51 in April 2018, and was also part of the squad who won Bronze at Liverpool in the World Cup this year. Jade shared a lot of her experiences with the girls and everyone got to wear her medals that she so willingly shared with us on the day.

The girls have benefited from this amazing experience once again and helped their confidence in the development of skills – thank you Wasps Netball.

Year 7 and 8 girls recently participated in the first round of the secondary indoor athletics competition. Students compete in both track and field events against participants from other schools, with points being awarded for events individually and added together to give a final total. Both teams did extremely well and thoroughly enjoyed the competition. Year 8 were in impressive form finishing in second position overall, while Year 7 ended in third place.

It will be the turn of Year 7 and Year 8 boys on Wednesday 18th December to see if they can match the girls’ achievements.
