Harris celebrates Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths with a Big Bang!

The Big Bang @ Harris Church of England Academy was held on the 3rd July 2019, providing 9 to 16 year olds with a fun and educational experience to help inspire them towards careers using STEAM subjects.

This was the second Big Bang event at this amazing school which already engages its students with a host of extra-curricular STEM opportunities.  The event hosted a wide range of interactive activities, workshops and shows from a number of local and regional providers, companies and institutions all showcasing the wide and diverse world of STEAM. The event had an array of activities and included an onsite planetarium, Aston Martin car, robots, bikes, Enigma Machine from Bletchley Park, engaging exhibits and an Atomic Science show. In addition, Heather Jacks winner of the Great British Sewing Bee delivered textile workshops.  A huge thanks to the following companies that supported the event:

Autins, Cummins, iChemE, Imagineering Foundation, the Met Office, Peter Brett Associates, Pfizer, Ricardo, EDAG Engineering, Rotary International, Atomic Science, Immersive Experiences, Aston Martin, Bletchley Park, High Temperature Research Centre (HTRC), Medical Mavericks, Morgan Sindall, Kuka Robotics and the Sea Cadets.

We hosted over 650 primary school pupils, as well as our own Academy students and Rugby Mayor Councillor Bill Lewis was in attendance.
