Young Carers
You're a young carer if you're under 18 and help to look after a relative with a disability, illness, mental health condition, or drug or alcohol problem. If you're a young carer, you probably look after one of your parents or care for a brother or sister.
Many students do not consider themselves a young carer even when they provide significant support to others in the home. We are very proud of our young carers and we offer them a tailored support plan, that meets their individual needs. Our young carers can choose which of the following support the want:
Access to
1:1 support with a named adult or their tutor
1:1 mentoring support with an adult or a prefect
1:1 Counselling
1:1 support with Chaplain
1:1 support with a Techer to support any academic needs, during tutor time
Homework club access during Tutor time
Access to a Chromebook for Home use
Support with uniform
Access to additional trips
Young carer assessment
Referral to the young carer Warwickshire Group.
Reduction in costs for DofE
In addition, we track progress and attendance across this key group to ensure our pupils are not falling behind. If you are a young carer and would like some support please contact Mrs Roberson - siobhan.roberson@harris.covmat.org
