Pupil Premium
'While we have time let us do good to all’. (Galatians 6:10)'
The Pupil Premium was introduced in April 2011 and is paid by means of a specific grant based on school census figures for pupils registered as eligible for Free School Meals. Pupils who are Looked After Children are also eligible for Pupil Premium Funding.
We would like to encourage parents of students who are eligible to receive free school meals but who are not claiming them to consider doing so. For every student that has received free school meals at any time in the previous 6 years, the school receives Pupil Premium, which is additional funding of £935 to reinvest in the education of the children at Harris Church of England Academy.
You can find out if your child is eligible for free school meals here:

You can apply online here:

If you want to talk to someone about whether or not you are eligible and how to apply, you can ring 01926 359189. All information given is confidential. We use a cashless catering system that enables us to load money in the accounts of Free School Meals students automatically every day. This means that your child can choose their meal in exactly the same way as their friends without drawing any attention to the fact that they receive free school meals.
The school can also gain additional funding if your child meets any of the following criteria:
£300 per pupil for any child who has a parent in the armed forces, £1900 per pupil for any child adopted from care or who left care under a Special Guardianship Order on or after 30 December 2005 or who left care under a Residence Order (now known as a child arrangements order) on or after 14 October 1991. The Government has extended the coverage of the Pupil Premium in recognition of the traumatic experiences many adopted children have endured in their early lives and a realisation that their needs do not change overnight.
If your child meets the above criteria by having a parent in the armed forces or has been adopted from care or left care under a Special Guardianship, it is very simple for the school to claim the funding. We simply need to see supporting evidence for example, a copy of the Adoption (Court) Order.
