SILENT NIGHT: COMMEMORATION OF THE CENTENARY OF THE CESSATION OF HOSTILITIES ON CHRISTMAS DAY 1914

On Sunday 7th December in very cold conditions 600 people met to commemorate the centenary of the cessation of hostilities between Britain and Germany, an event organised by Robin Kemp and Heather Fielding.

Rugby Town Football Club was the appropriate venue for the ceremony which featured carols, a reading by the M.P. for Rugby, the Land Rover and Jaguar brass band and excellent speakers from Hope and BEC.

In addition Harris Academy provided a montage of tableaux to compliment the Rugby Male Voice Choir's rendition of 'War Song' from the Hired Man.

In authentic costumes the Y9 boys from Harris, Ethan, Ben, Cameron, Harry, Cameron and Chris gave moving performances with steely focus and expressive gestures to create vivid and poignant portraits of life in the trenches.

Thank you boys, we're proud of you.

Mr. Browning
