SCIENCE WEEK

SCIENCE WEEK 14-18 MARCH 2016

 

Throughout this week Harris have organised a range of activities that will span all year groups within the Academy.

  • Technician Challenge for year 9’s.
  • In class experiments (1 per year group).
  • Importance of science powerpoint presentation (Tutors will show at some point during the week).
  • Competition for year 7 to year 9 students to design a poster around the theme of ‘Science can be found in all spaces.'

 

Tuesday 15th March

  • Card Sharp – The Maths behind a card trick. There will be a demonstration of a card trick and the selected pupils will be taught how to perform it. The challenge then will be to work out the mathematics behind the trick. This will be demonstrated to a selection of Year 7 students.
  • Safe Science experiments being shown by Science club ambassadors in Hope Hall—Lunchtime.
  • Year 7—After School—Making a Lava Lamp.
     

Wednesday 16th March

  • Model Engineering at its best (By invitation only). A visit to Echills Wood model railway within Kingsbury Water Park, including a tour of the 1.5km track, the engine sheds and a ride on one of the trains.
  • Year 7 Science Fair Display in Ash Hall during P6.
  • Year 8—After School—Fire Writing.
     

Thursday 17th March

  • Year 9 —After School—Brainiac Science.

 

Friday 18th March

  • Thunderbolts & Lightning – Are they really frightening? A light hearted and informative talk by a representative from the Institution of Engineering & Technology. This will be presented to a selection of Year 9 & 10 students.
