COVENTRY FESTIVAL OF SPEECH & DRAMA

Last Saturday (25/11/17) Harris C. of E. Academy students performed monologues in the acting class of the Coventry Speech and Drama Festival held at Bablake School. Year 10 student Tabbi C won the acting prize for her comedic performance as Nicola from Victoria Wood’s ‘Mens Sana in Thingummy Doodah’. Izy F was awarded a Distinction certificate and Lorenzo G was awarded a Highly Commended certificate.

Chris Browning, Head of Performing Arts said, ‘We are delighted for Tabbi and Izy and Lorenzo. They put in a great deal of hard work for these monologues as well as the ones they also performed the previous day for their LAMDA exams. Tabbi had us in stitches with her Victoria Wood piece and I am so pleased that she received the generous recognition from her adjudicator at the festival. The Coventry Speech and Drama Festival is an excellent opportunity for students to showcase their monologues. The adjudicators diligently appraise every performer and give them helpful points to develop their skills.’

TTabitha C said: “It was such a great experience, and I feel so grateful for the opportunity to partake in the competition. It was such an achievement to win in the solo acting group, against so many talented people.'

Izzy F said: “I am so thankful for this opportunity to go to this festival, and to come away with a distinction for my first time there was completely unexpected.  I exceeded my expectation of myself, and I’m so proud of this achievement. It was a tough competition so everybody should feel proud of themselves.”
