HARRIS ACADEMY EMBRACE NATIONAL SCIENCE WEEK
Harris CofE Academy embraced National Science Week (14-18 March) with involvement in a wide variety of activities spanning the all year groups.
The activities ranged from:
- In class experiments
- Demonstrations performed by members of our science club
- An importance of science powerpoint presentation
- Competition to design a poster around the theme of ‘Science can be found in all spaces’
- The Maths behind a card trick - A demonstration by the Institute of Engineering & Technology of a card trick where selected pupils were taught how to perform it. The challenge then was to work out the mathematics behind the trick.
- Making Lava Lamps
- Off site trip to Echills Wood model railway to see model engineering at its best which included a tour of the 1.5km track, the engine sheds and a ride on one of the trains.
- Students Science Fair Display
- Fire Writing
- Thunderbolts & Lightning – Are they really frightening? - A light hearted and informative talk by a representative from the Institution of Engineering & Technology.
