HARRIS U15'S WIN COUNTY CUP FINAL

U.15 WARWICKSHIRE COUNTY CUP FINAL

11th May 2016- Leamington FC

Kenilworth School 1 Vs Harris Academy 2

On a very warm and muggy evening, Harris Academy went to Leamington FC full of confidence on the back of a convincing semi-final win 8-0.  Despite this score line the students were well aware that Kenilworth School had a number of players who played at a good level, including one player on Coventry City’s books.  Despite this we have a side full of County and District players and knew that we, performing to our best, could get the result that we were looking for.

After the opening 5 minutes, where we struggled to get hold of the ball, we settled into our play and began to make numerous big challenges and dominated the possession.  Finley T made many thunderous line clearances from defence and Oskar L made many telling and menacing runs down the right wing.  Harris piled on the pressure and around the 20 minute mark Bailey C put Harris Academy 1-0 up.  The boys settled back down and again took the attack to Kenilworth thwarting any small chances that Kenilworth threw at them.  You could see that Harris had their opponents rattled and this told in many reckless challenges from Kenilworth.  With approximately 5 minutes remaining Bailey C pulled the trigger again, with the keeper slipping, making the score 2-0  going into half-time.
The second half was much the same for the first 20 minutes with Flavius M hitting the post from a header.  Kenilworth then stepped up a gear throwing everything at the Harris defence.  Mr Crofts made some telling tactical changes to ensure that we close out the result.  Finley T marshalled his troops extremely well and every single player gave 110%.  With approximately 90 seconds to go we conceded a goal but thankfully, despite tired legs, it was too little too late.  For the first time in our history we were U.15 County Champions and richly deserved it was too.  Every single player needs special mention and also the tactical awareness of Mr Crofts.  Many spectators commented on how well Harris Academy played and conducted themselves throughout the evening.
Well done!
