  • Year 7 Girls Inspired by Science and Engineering at the Big Bang Fair

    Thu 19 Jun 2025

Today, a group of enthusiastic Year 7 girls from Harris had the exciting opportunity to visit the Big Bang Fair at the NEC Birmingham — the UK’s largest celebration of science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM) for young people.

Throughout the morning, the students explored interactive exhibits, took part in hands-on activities, and spoke to experts from a wide range of industries. They discovered how STEM shapes our world and learned about the variety of exciting careers available in fields such as engineering, technology, healthcare, and environmental science.

The trip aimed to inspire our students to consider future pathways in STEM and to show them how their curiosity and creativity can lead to exciting opportunities.

Well done to all the students for representing Harris so brilliantly — we hope the experience has sparked new interests and ambitions for the future!

  • Future Faces Success at Rugby Art Gallery

    Thu 19 Jun 2025 KFN

We are thrilled to share the fantastic achievements of our talented Year 9 and 10 students who recently took part in the Future Faces competition, hosted by Rugby Art Gallery and Museum. This prestigious opportunity invited young people from across the region to submit artwork that reflects their identity, passions, or future aspirations.

Out of all the entries, three of our students—Sofie Hartwell, Derek Anish, and Oliver Francis—were selected to have their work displayed in the Balcony Gallery, a public space that welcomes visitors to the library, museum, and art gallery. Their creative work will be admired by the local community over the coming weeks.

A special congratulations goes to Oliver Francis, whose exceptional piece was awarded Best Artwork in his age category (Years 10–12). This is an incredible achievement and a proud moment for both Oliver and our school.

In addition, the following students had their artwork selected to feature in a printed book accompanying the exhibition: Arnie S, Lexi-Lou M, Rose H, Skye A, Ben C, Jonah O, Melissa M, Katie B, Maria G, Ciara O, Maison T, Aimee H, Amber M, Larrissa D, Hermione R, Oliver F, Olivia G, Maysa B, Gabrielle P, and Ruby B.

Well done to all involved. We are so proud of your creativity, effort, and ambition—your work truly represents the future faces of the art world!
